Where we came from...

 In 1946, on the way to the Sugar Bowl, a then 27 year old man’s plane was delayed in Houston due to fog.  For two days, Kenneth Stanley “Bud” Adams, Jr. decided to look around this sprawling, rapidly developing town and liked what he saw.  The son of the chairman of the board of Phillips Petroleum Company started his new business with $17,000, two employees, a single warehouse and one truck.  This was the beginning of the company that would develop into Adams Resources and Energy Inc., a multi company, publicly traded corporation that grew from a modest start.  The business expanded rapidly and soon the proprietorship incorporated.

  Mr Adams introduced the Phillips Petroleum line of products to the Houston area.  ADA Oil Company was one of the first companies to introduce a pension plan and employee group insurance plan.  It was around this time that the original ten members pooled their $81 to form the Credit Union.  Today, ADA Employees Credit Union has an average of 360 members and $2.3 million in assets.

THE AECU ANNUAL MEETING

   The AECU annual meeting is held each January for the purpose of electing the Board of Directors.  At this time, the Chairman of the Board reports to the membership on the previous year’s performance.   Refreshments are provided, followed by our popular door prize drawing.  The notification of when and where the annual meeting is to be held is mailed with the 4^th quarter member statement.  Notices are also posted at all participating companies.
